NextMMAFighter.com is coming to you with live coverage once again. We are at Center Stage in Atlanta, Ga for some Muay Thai and MMA action.
This sold out crowd is active and very excited to be here. The crowd is packed at one of my favorite venues in Atlanta. Romeo, the announcer, is one of the funniest, charismatic announcers we’ve seen. Khunpon of Bangkok Fight Night does a really great job with his promotion.
Wayne Barrett 185lbs vs. Jessie Williams 182.5lbs – Ammy Muay Thai – 185lbs
2 very strong competitors meet in the middle and trade some leg and push kicks. Jesse is throwing the stiffer kicks but Wayne finds success with a flurry of punches. Wayne tries to keep out of range of Jesse’s kicks but Jesse stalks him. Wayne is using a counter strategy and it seems to be working. Jesse is unable to mount an offense as Wayne eludes him. Wayne counters a push kick with some body blows and they clinch. Wayne disengages with a few punches, a 1-2 that land clean. Jesse comes after Wayne but can’t seem to land anything when Wayne rocks Jesse with a flurry of punches. Jesse survives the 8-count and the round ends.
Second round Wayne uses some leg kicks to topple Jesse twice early in the round. Jesse comes forward and Wayne assaults him with severe body blows that knock Jesse down. Jesse gets up only to be knocked down soon after. Jesse is resilient and keeps pushing the action but Wayne turns the heat up and lands another big flurry of punches to finish Jesse.

Daniel Lamb 150lbs vs. Rubel Kadede 148lbs – Ammy MMA – 150lbs
Rubel presents as a striker and lands a jab and kick early in the round. Daniel comes back with a head kick that lands but Rubel is able to step back and recover. The fighters trade a series of punches and kicks when Daniel gets Rubel into the corner and executes a takedown. Daniel works some body blows from within Rubel’s guard but is unable to pass or do any significant damage. Rubel is able to get up when Daniel backs off. Rubel suffered a big cut under the right eye during the takedown and is impaired somewhat. Daniel is relentless and comes after Rubel on the feet. Daniel shoots another takedown but Rubel catches him in a front headlock and time runs out.
Round 2 Daniel comes in with wild looping punches and Rubel gets him in a clinch and sends some knees. Rubel attempts a guillotine but Daniel defends and they stand. Daniel comes back at him but Rubel catches him in the clinch again. Daniel goes down for a double and is able to secure the takedown. they scramble, Daniel ends on to and quickly works for an armbar. Rubel turns his bod and is able to defend only to be put in a triangle. The work in that position for sometime until Ruble escapes. Now with Rubel in Daniel’s guard, Rubel works to pass. He gets into half guard before the time runs out.
Round 3 begins with Daniel swinging for the fences. Daniel lands a good left hook tot he injured eye of Rubel and Rubel is stunned. Daniel delivers a few more combinations to the area and Rubel drops, he recovers from the 8-count and they go back to punches. Daniel takes a straight right and begins retreating from the action while Rubel pursues him with a flying knee and a 1-2-3 combo. Daniel drops for a takedown and is able to work to half guard. Rubel sweeps and takes his back to deliver body blows until the round ends.

Rachel Seltzer 125lbs vs. Allison Stokes 122.5lbs – Ammy Muay Thai – 125lbs
Rachel comes out with a body kick and clinches quick to deliver some knees. Rachel is smothering Allison with kicks and punches and locks her in a clinch again until separated. Allison is unable to land anything significant while Rachel continues her barrage of strikes to the body and head. Rachel seems to slow down toward the end of the round but still delivers stiff punches and kicks. Allison also tires from the continued punishment and the round ends.
Round 2 Rachel lands some good punches but Allison won’t go down without a fight Allison creates some space and throws some push kicks that keep the distnace. Rachel is able to get close with some punch combos and clinch again. Allison attempt some knees of her own but is losing in the exchange. After being separated from a clinch Rachel is able to deliver some more punches. The round ends with the action following the same formula.
Round 3 Rachel dominates the standup some more with punch combos that rock Allison,… i’m being assaulted by a drunk woman from he first row that is calling for knockouts and touching me a lot. i’m having a terrible time trying to follow the fight. Rachel is a cardio machine, though and the pace barely slows up. The 3rd round ends with, what I find out is her mother, almost yaking on me.

Paul Gabelman 205lbs vs. Daniel Norton 207lbs – Ammy MMA – 205lbs
Daniel throws a 1-2 early and Paul gets a body lock. Daniel gets a body lock but Daniel is able to stay upright. Upon disengaging Daniel sends a few shots his way and Paul comes back at him for a clinch and another take down. Daniel works him to the ropes and defends from the takedown. They get clear of each other and Daniel takes one to the nuts, hard. They get back into it and Daniel uses his reach to stick with jabs until Paul closes the distance and get the body lock again. Daniel gets over-under and moves him tot he turnbuckle. They clear again and trade a left. Paul goes back to the body for a takedown but Daniel’s defense is exceptional. Paul drops for absingle but is still unable to take Daniel down. Daniel pushes Paul down for a guillotine attempt but is unable to finish before the round ends.
Paul RUNS at Daniel and tries a Daniel meets him with a superman punch. LIKE A SKY DUEL, these guys barely miss each other and they get back to grappling. Paul was able to get Daniel to his knees but rose quickly. DaniePaul’s chin proves tough as Daniel hits him with 1-2 combos. Paul abandons the takedown game and stands with Daniel. After takeing a few more shots from Daniel, Paul autopilots to the takedown game. Daniel is able to defend and they get to square. Daniel keeps scoring the 1-2 and Paul continues have trouble with the takedowns.
Round 3 Paul comes in with some inside leg kicks and on the 3rd one shots for the takedown. Daniel uses the ropes and ring to his advantage and stays standing. They trade some knees int he clinch and Paul drops low for the single. Paul gets him up really high and they slam to the mat. Daniel is able to stand after some posturing. They stymie in the clinch and are separated. Paul gets back to the clinch and is able to secure a takedown late in the 3rd just as time expires.

Eric Castro 155lbs vs. Serge Grubnyak 155lbs – Ammy Muay Thai – 155lbs
Serge sets up a big 112 with some leg kicks and seems to rock Eric early. They trade a number of big shots and clinch up. The ref separates them but it is already looking like a war. Eric is a powerful striker sending big shots but Serge is quick and accurate. Eric drops his left hand on the kicks and Serge is countering with a big overhand right each time and if finds a home. Eric wavers in but his chin stays strong. They trade a few more and the round ends.
Round 2 Serge uses a right leg kick to right straight combo to close distance. Eric appears much stronger int he clinch but is unable to do any damage as Serge stays really tight in the clinch. For the 3rd time now, Serge was able to catch one of Eric’s kicks but didn’t do much with it. Serge has landed a few significant right body kicks and it looks to be taking a toll. Eric is frustrated with being unable to mount a significant offense and is shows when he walks back to his corner after the round.
Round 3 Serge continues to surgically attack the left side of Eric’s face. After several punches and kicks to the right side, Eric feints another right kick to the body and throws a spinning backfist to counter Serge’s counter, it lands great and Serge is stunned momentarily. He regains his composure quickly and comes at him with a series of punches that leave Eric rocked but standing as the round comes to a close.

Victoria Trueb 126lbs vs. Colleen Louima 125.5lbs – Ammy Muay Thai – 125lbs
Victoria has a dominating reach and throws some jabs and body kicks to keep range. Colleen is tenacios and can take punishment she gets in close and throws leg kicks to knock Victoria down. Colleen has to pick her spots because the range but is finding some success with overhand shots. IOn the clinch Victoria uses her height to throws some good knees. Victoria works to keep her distance and throw kicks form the outside. Collen has been dropping her head when she comes in and Victoria delivers a good knee when she approaches. Victoria finishes the round with a flurry that lands a few solid punches.
Round 2 Victoria throws her punches form range and attacks the body with kicks. Back in a clinch Victoria throws more knees and they separate. Victoria misses with a kick and Colleen closes. they work in the clinch and colleen gets a few shots in. When they separate Victoria throws some jabs and when colleen approaches eats a big knee that stuns her pretty good. Colleen is reticent to engage the rest of the round and Victoria takes shots from the outside until the round expires.
Round 3 Victoria maintains her distance with the body kicks and drops a right punch to follow up. Colleen starts throwing a count leg kick when Victoria’s body kick comes in and knocks her down. Victoria lands another knee when Colleen approaches. Colleen’s strength is wavering but is still on the attack. Now both fighters appear pretty gassed. They finish the round in a clinch that nearly sends them both out of the ring.

Clint Hester 187lbs vs. Roger Carroll 185lbs – Pro MMA – 185lbs
Fight starts quick with Clint coming out to throw a few punches, Roger uses every opportunity to go for a takedown but Clint maintains his composure and his balance. Clint is able to stay standing until they get wrapped up in the corner and is finally taken down. Once on the ground, Roger passes the guard and is able to secure the mount. Clint does a good job of not taking any damage and bucks to escape but gives up an arm that Roger takes advantage of. Roger sinks in a tight armbar and Clint taps quickly.

Stephen Richards 176lbs (4lbs over scheduled weight) vs. Alex Barrios 172.5lbs (.5lb over weight. an agreement was reached at the weigh-ins) – Pro Muay Thai – 170lbs
Alex starts with some pretty stiff kicks. He attacks mostly the legs and chest. Stephen is able to catch one and throw a good punch combo. They get to a clinch and are about even in the exchanges there After disengaging Alex throws a head kicks that is a glancing blow. Alex gets back in a clinch and works some knees and elbows to throw Stephen off, some of the strikes have stunned Stephen. Alex pursues him and lands some punches and kicks but can’t finish him. The round comes to a close.
Round 2 Alex throws a kick that’s caught but still delivers some heavy blows to the head of Stephen. Alex weathers a few shots but is maintaining the upper hand in the fight winning most of the exchanges. Stephen begins breathing through the mouth and Alex continues ti pick him apart. Stephen is able to land a solid right that slows Alex down momentarily and follows up with a knee and punch attack that land solidly. Alex looks unfazed but they must be taking their toll. Alex eats 2 more big punches form Stephen and is wearing down. Stephen builds momentum with the landed strikes but is too tired to finish.
Round 3 Stephen comes out on the offensive and throws a few push kicks to wear Alex down further. Alex lands a few body kicks but Stephen is mustering some power shots. Stephen looks to be saving a big right hand but Alex keeps up the offensive. Stephen unleashes that right hand and drops Alex. Alex gets back up and they go back at it. Alex scores some with jabs and body kicks but Stephen hits a big punch again. The 3rd round ends with Alex hitting a few jabs.
Round 4 Alex catches a straight kick and throws a big right hand that Stephen weathers. Both fighters are letting it go in this round with strong punches and kicks. Alex lands a solid leg kick and after another exchange is able to score a takedown. Alex is keeping a pretty open guard and using elbows for power shots now. Alex is losing more and more of the exchanges and favors the kicks from the outside now. Stephen lands a solid right, even from range. The round expires. Great fight.

Tim Stout 172lbs vs. Phillip Wyman 170lbs – Pro MMA – 170lbs
Pillip is the agressor early on with some leg and body kicks. Tim is charging up and throwing all of his punches with bad intentions. Tim is looking for s one-shot ko here. Tim unleashes a strong leg kick and 12 combo. Tim is noticeably stronger than Phillip and pushes him against he corner while manipulatin the arms and neck. Phillip escapes and drives into Tim for a takedown and Tim immediately sweeps to top position in Phillips guard. Tim works some GnP from Phillip’s guard, picking his punches and delivering big elbows. After a few shots he’s able to pass to half-guard. Tim postures up for a big shot and Phillip is able to get his guard back. When Tim goes for an armbar, Phillip stands. Phillip lands a left and shoots the takedown. He knocks Tim down and eats an upkick on the way in. They scramble and end the round reaching for leg locks on each other.
Begging the 2nd round. After a few missed shots the fighters clinch and some knees are exchanged. Tim pushes forward and trips for a takedown. Tim is able to pass into side control and subsequently loses it to half-guard and then full guard. Phillip is unable to do any damage from the bottom but Tim is still able to land some shots from the guard. The ref stands them up from inactivity and they get to standing and trading. Tim slips form a kick and Phillip gets into Tim’s guard. Phillip is unable to pass and stands after a time attempts a sub. They get to standing and Tim is starting to tire. they miss some shots and Tim shoots for a takedown that lands him in Phillip’s guard.
3rd round Tim goes back to throwing strong punches and kicks until he shoots a takedown. Tim lands in Phillip’s guard once again and lands the occasional shot. He works like this for a minute or two and leaves his neck exposed. Phillip immediately sits up and attempts a guillotine. Both fighters are extremely tired and Phillip releases the guillotine. They are stood up eventually and Tim finds a huge right, Phillip is bloody and stunned. Tim gets him to the ground and moves from a front headlock to side control while Phillip is turtled to drop some heavy hammer fists as the round expires.

Bobby Peavler 260lbs vs. Kenny Segar 259lbs – Pro MMA – 265lbs
Both fighters come out and look to trade shots for a bit until Bobby comes in to clinch up. Bobby gets an over under and takes Kenny to the ground. Bobby shows composure and a lot of experience on the ground and quickly passes to half guard and then almost to mount when Kenny goes to give up the back Bobby attacks an arm for a kimura. He steps over the head for leverage and sinks it in. Kenny refused to tap and I hear a snap, crackle, pop from the ringside table. Kenny taps in agony.
