Event Results from Masquerade Fight Party Oct 1.

It was a chilly night of fights on the 1st of October at the Masquerade Music Park. Fight Party had a card stacked with talent from top to bottom, which included two title fights. Here is how I saw the action.

Marquez Jackson – X3 vs Rafael George – HardKnox

George starts the round with a takedown and lands in side control. Jackson pulls George into his half guard; they scoot to the cage and move to the standing position. Jackson lands some knees to George’s body and George takes him down. Jackson works a kimura to an armbar. George rolls out on top of Jackson and the round ends.

Round 2 George delivers several kicks and Jackson answers with a knee and a few punches. George gets a single leg takedown and punishes Jackson with some ground and pound. Jackson’s triangle attempt was stopped and George goes for the armbar. Jackson sweeps and lands in George’s half guard. Jackson moves to George’s back and goes for the rear naked choke. George rolls and is now facing Jackson in his full guard. Some more ground and pound from George ends the round.

Round 3 George goes for a single leg takedown and presses Jackson into the cage. Jackson punches George in the face to stop the takedown and lands a few knees to the body. Jackson is fired up and George shoots a double leg takedown. Jackson traps George in his half guard as they move to the cage. Some knees to the body of Jackson and they are standing again. George goes for the single against the cage and they go to the ground. Jackson attempts to lock in a guillotine as the bell rings.

Maurice Jones – USMC/Guerrilla Fitness vs Jeremy Thurman

A leg kick from Jones and an answering jab from Thurman begin the round. Jones delivers some knees and they break and trade. Jones lands a leg kick and Thurman returns with a jab. There is a possible low blow from Thurman and Jones is looking for some help from the ref as Thurman presses him to the cage with punches. They move to the center of the cage and a kick to the midsection of Thurman sends him to the ground where Jones hits him with a strong left. Thurman attempts a single and Jones takes Thurman to the ground.

Round 2 Jones lands a big kick and Thurman takes him to the ground but lands in Jones’ guard. Jones appears to be going for an omoplata but then pulls Thurman into his full guard. Jones sweeps off of the cage and has Thurman mounted. Jones pounds Thurman’s face with punches until the ref steps in to stop the bout.

Tania Powell – Top Dog MMA vs Nicola Faircloth –Independent MMA

They trade leg kicks and punches as they move to the cage wall and then back to the center of the cage. Powell goes for the single and lands in Faircloth’s loose triangle that leads to Powell fully mounting Faircloth. Powell traps both of Faircloth’s arms and works the armbar. The round winds down with Powell containing Faircloth’s arms and Faircloth fighting the armbar.

Round 2 Powell presses Faircloth to the cage and is really working the single. Powell hammers Faircloth’s face with some punches and Powell finishes the takedown. Once again Powell has Faircloth mounted and is fighting for the armbar but then switches to a mounted triangle. Faircloth rolls and steps over Powell to prevent the finish and the bell rings.

Round 3 Faircloth delivers a few uppercuts and jabs to Powell and Powell easily takes her to the mat. Powell is briefly trapped in half guard and quickly transitions to side control and to mount once again. Faircloth bucks as Powell goes for another armbar or triangle. Powell switches to a kimura and Faircloth sweeps. Powell sweeps right back to mount and works the kimura to end the round.

Justin Scoggins – Pitch Black MMA vs Chris Ortiz – Independent MMA

Scoggins with his hands down and is just blasting Ortiz with punches and lands a spinning back kick. Ortiz attempts a takedown and eats a knee from Scoggins along with another spinning back kick. Ortiz slips and Scoggins pounces on him. Ortiz leaps up and Scoggins presses him to the cage. Scoggins clinches and Ortiz delivers punches to the body. Scoggins presses Ortiz to the cage and gets a double to side control. Scoggins hammers Ortiz face with heavy fists, as the bell rings and Ortiz must be helped to his corner.

Round 2 Scoggins comes out swinging and pummels Ortiz to the fence. Scoggins knees Ortiz at the cage and lands a head kick that sends Ortiz to the ground. Scoggins follows him to the mat with a flurry of punches and the ref jumps in to stop it.

Andrew Ballenger – Contemporary Martial Arts/Hardcore Gym vs Ben Brewer – Evolution MMA

Ballenger kicks and slips when the round starts. He gets up and is quickly taken down by Brewer, however Ballenger ends up on top. Brewer sweeps and traps Ballenger in a mounted triangle. Ballenger rolls but is still caught in the triangle. Brewer works a kimura with Ballenger still locked in the triangle. Ballenger slips out and is to his feet. Brewer works a single to the fence and pulls Ballenger away to finish the takedown. Ballenger goes for a triangle and the bell rings.

Round 2 They trade kicks and Brewer shoots a double. Brewer finishes the takedown and lands with Ballenger in his half guard. Ballenger moves to mount and Brewer sweeps into Ballenger’s guard. Ballenger hooks up the triangle and is delivering some hammer fists. Brewer lands some knees to the body of Ballenger still locked in the triangle as the round ends.

Round 3 A leg trip by Brewer and he ends up in Ballenger’s half guard. Brewer moves to side control and punches Ballenger in the face. Brewer mounts and Ballenger rolls, giving up his back. Brewer locks in a rear naked choke and Ballenger taps out.

Charles Rosa – ATT vs John Cobb – Independent MMA

Both fighters trade every strike in their arsenal and a Rosa jab sends Cobb to the mat. Hammer fists by Rosa and he moves to mount. Rosa tees off and Cobb gives up his back. Rosa sinks in a rear naked choke and Cobb is finished.

Joseph Corneroli – Pitch Black MMA vs Steele McCall – X3

Corneroli trips McCall and lands in mount. McCall rolls and Corneroli takes his back. Steel works out and they are back to their feet. A head kick and a hook lead to a takedown by Corneroli. McCall hooks up a kimura and Corneroli works out pressing against the cage and delivers elbows to McCall. Steele goes for a guillotine and then transitions to a triangle/armbar. Corneroli stands and McCall lets go but is still pressed to the cage. McCall goes for the armbar but Corneroli rolls and moves to side control and transitioned to mount as the round comes to an end.

Round 2 McCall presses Corneroli to the cage. Corneroli tosses McCall to the ground and lands in side control. Steele wall walks the cage and Corneroli knees the body several times. Corneroli locked up an arm triangle and McCall defends it well. Minutes go by with the arm triangle locked and Corneroli’s arms tire, he lets go of the choke and McCall gets to his feet. Corneroli trips McCall and lands in McCall’s guard as Steele goes for a guillotine.

Round 3 Steele lands a few punches and Corneroli takes him down with a single into side control. McCall traps Corneroli with an inverted triangle but Corneroli slips out and moves to side control. Corneroli delivers some knees to the body and moves to mount easily. McCall bucks and attempts to slip out the back door but Corneroli is smothering him with pressure. On their feet again, Corneroli trips McCall landing in mount and sinks in a guillotine. McCall sneaks out and the bell rings.

Kendrick Miree – ATT vs Michael Alford – Team ROC

Miree chases Alford around the cage and takes him down into side control and then to mount. Alford rolls giving up his back, Miree goes for the rear naked choke and Alford defends. Alford tries to stand but Miree forces him down. Miree is transitioning from back, to side control to north/south like clockwork. Miree works his hooks in and goes for the rear naked again. Alford rolls and Miree is in side control peppering him with elbows.

Round 2 Miree presses Alford to the ground, picks him up and drops him to his side. Miree mounts and Alford rolls and is happy in the turtle position. Alford manages to get up, Miree presses him face first into the cage and takes Alford down with ease. Alford turtles again and Miree takes his back after sinking in his hooks. Miree saws in a rear naked choke but Alford sweeps. Alford is in Miree’s guard and stands as he stacks Miree up. Miree sees an arm, grabs it and taps Alford with an armbar just before the bell.

Stephen Thompson – Pitch Black MMA vs Patrick Mandio – X3

Thompson comes out with his hands down and switching stances rapidly just begging Mandio to come in close. Mandio presses Thompson to the cage; Thompson spins out and presses Mandio to the fence. They break off of the wall and into the center of the mat. Mandio tosses Thompson to the ground and lands in Thompson’s guard. Thompson lands elbows to Mandio’s head as Mandio scoots Thompson to the cage. Thompson walks the wall and delivers a knee to Mandio.

Round 2 A head kick from Thompson and Mandio goes in for the single, he presses Thompson to the cage. Thompson circles and they moved to the center. Thompson presses Mandio to the cage and delivers knees to a takedown. Thompson goes to mount and punishes Mandio’s head with punches. Mandio forces himself up the cage as they break. Thompson goes to the body with punches, lands a combo and head kick before taking Mandio down again. Mandio works his way up as the round ends.

Round 3 Thompson lands several sidekicks to Mandio’s head and then punishes him with leg kicks. Mandio is swinging for the fences as they clinch and trade knees. Thompson continues to pick his strikes perfectly and time them just right to close out the round.

Marius Cujba – X3 vs John Cofer – Hardcore Gym

The majority of the first round was spent as both fighters are feeling each other out. Cujba lands several unchecked leg kicks. Cofer with a low blow and the ref gives Cujba time to recover. The round ends with more feeling out.

Round 2 Both fighters seem to be ready to throw this round. Cofer is pressing hard landing several shots to the head and body. Cofer charges with 2-3 punch combos and Cujba lands more unchecked leg kicks. Both fighters throw equalizing jabs as Cofer shoots for the takedown. Cujba grabs the fence to stop the takedown but Cofer does not care and slings him down anyway. Cofer ends the round on top blasting Cujba with shoulder blows to the face.

Round 3 Cofer charges with the combos again as Cujba paws at him. Cofer catches a Cujba head kick and then a leg kick to press Cujba to the fence. They circle and Cofer blasts Cujba with a couple of rights. Cofer works a single and attempts a trip but Cujba grabs the cage again to stop the takedown.

Round 4 Cofer lands an uppercut and Cujba answers with a hook. Cujba continues to paw at Cofer and appears to be searching for a strong overhand right. Cujba goes for a single and Cofer lands a knee to the body. They circle and trade to end the round.

Round 5 Cofer is mixing it up more, throwing more kicks to the body. Cujba is still pawing at Cofer. Cofer goes for the single and Cujba grabs the fence again to prevent the takedown for the third time in the fight. Cofer presses Cujba into the cage and delivers several knees while maintaining a tight body lock on Cujba. Cujba goes for a kimura and Cofer circles and moves to the center of the cage. Cofer lands a big left and then a big toss by Cujba and Cofer. Cujba presses Cofer to the fence and Cofer punishes Cujba with a multitude of knees as the bell rings.

Event Coverage | Wild Bills Fight Night – 39 Duluth, Ga

NextMMAFighter was able to cover another great night of fights at Wild Bill’s in Duluth, Ga. The card, as laid out, provided some really interesting matchups and others that we know would lend themselves to some sparks. Check out the action here:

Stephen Coggins- Legacy Fight Club vs John Garcia – Team Octopus 137lbs

John rushes out like a bull but does not srike. They clinch up and Stephen drags the action to the ground. John is able to work back to full guard and Stephen works the body. John posted up for an armbar, Stephen avoided it but jumped right into a traingle attempt. John works the triangle from the bottom but is unable to complete. Stephen defends, rolls John over and takes the back. John turns into him and works some punches in the guard. They stand and approach once more. Stephen controls John’s neck in a clinch for the remainder of the round.

Round 2 John rushed out again and Stephen strikes. They lock up go to the ground with Stephen in John’s half guard. John recomposes his guard and Stephen works to pass. They get stood up and nearly land simultaneous haymakers. John seems to have clipped Stephen and gets the action to the ground. Stephen turtles and John takes the back. Stephen struggles to escape his position but John is able to sink in the Rear Naked Choke.

Rusty Crowder – Defkon 1 vs Kevin Patton – Fusion MMA 136lbs

These guys size each other up to start. Kevin looses a leg kick followed by a flying switch kick. They scramble on the ground momenatirly and get back to standing. Rusty fires off a flurry and Kevin drops for a takedown. Rusty sprawls out nicely and they separate. They trade some low kicks although Rusty seems to be commanding the standup. Kevin drops for a takedown and ends in Rusty’s guard. Rusty had an arm locked up pretty well and was landing shots on Kevin’s face. Kevin got his arm free and rained down some blows form the top. The round ends with Kevin in Rusty’s guard.

ROund 2 Kevin throws a few kicks to set up another double leg takedown. Kevin has his arm trapped behind Rusty’s back and is getting a little punishment for it. Rusth has some active hips and puts up for an armbar. Kevin avoids it and lands some solid punches. Kevin postures up once or twice to land more punches whil Rusty tries to devn and find an opportunity to sweep. They end the round roughing each other up in the guard.

Round 3 Kevin is having trouble penetratin Rusty’s jabs and kicks. Rusty rushes forward and gives Kevin a chance to drop levels and get another takedown. Kevin works more punches from the top, opting to stand and punch as well as deliver blows from the guard. They trade back and forth for a bit and get stood up. Kevin lands a good push kick and follows with another takedown. The action slows and they get stood up for the last time. In the last 10 seconds Rusty unleashes a barrage of punches and they stand and trade for a full 5 seconds in an exciting finish.

Nick Beal – Striker Fight Center vs Gui Curry – Knuckle Up 156lbs

Gui throws a combo quick and clinches up for a takedown. Nick keeps his feet and tries for a body kick. Gui weathers the kick and gets a takedown. Gui lands in half guard and works to pass. Gui is able to pass to side control after pushing Nick’s leg down and stepping over. Gui works some punches but Nick returns some of his own from his back. Gui steps over to mount and Nick executes a nice slip to get him back to half guard. Gui passes again and throws punches from the mount when time expires.

Round 2 Nick throws a combo to keep Gui outside of his range but Gui persists and clinches up. Gui lands an outside trip and they are back to the ground. Gui passes to mount once more and throws punches. Nick turns to escape as best he can but Gui is heavy and sticky. Gui moves up to set up an armbar and Nick turns into him and gets top position. After 4:45 of controlled punishment from Gui, we see Nick unleash a round and a half of frustration and land some solid punches when the round ends.

Round 3 Gui shoots for a single early and Nick maintains his balance. Nick punches Gui down to the ground and Gui is laying it wait. Nick drops som punches but lets him stand. Gui tries 2 more takedowns but is stuffed and Nick let’s him stand. Gui looks tired and his takedowns are less effective. NIck stuffs another and lands some punches before he lets Gui up agains. Nick drops his shoulders for a leading left hook and barely misses. Gui rushes in for one last takedown he is unable to land before the fight ends. This is gonna be a tough one to score. Could easily be a draw.

Jose Tezanos – Hardcore Gym vs Joe Elmore – Hardknox/Gracie Barra 156lbs

They get after it fast but Jose lands a slightly illegal knee at the beginning. The fighters are ok and we get back to it. Jose cme to bang and they get after it. Joe regurns some shots and they grapple up. Jose drops for a double and gtes to the ground. Joe turns out and works Jose’s neck. Joe works hard for that guillotine but Jose pops out. They scramble and Joe gets a neck again. JOse picks him up to slam and Joe rolls him over. They scramble and Joe finds the neck again. Jose gets on top and pops his head out. These guys love a formula. Jose is on top and working some position but looks to have poked an eye. Jose denies it but Joe is upset. The tension is palpable. Joe kicks Jose’s legs out and catches the neck again on the way down. Jose finds daylight once more and he’s back on top. Jose postures up and works punches to a down Elmore. Joe moves a lot and misses most of the damage as the round ends.

JOe lands a huge pushkick early in this round and follows with a roundhouse that misses. Jose pushes forward and gets a takedown. They find themselves in a familiar Elmore half guard. Jose works some body shots and elbows. Joe creates some space and spins out. They trade some knees and Joe drops for a takedown of his own. They scramble for position and Joe goes for a triangle Jose turns and loosens a leg to stay out of trouble and passing to side control. Joe pushes Jose off and goes for a triangle and transitions to an omoplata. Jose defends the omaplata ang goes back to Joes guard. Joe did a lot of work off his back, maybe more than I’ve seen him do in any of his other fights. Hard round to score.

Round 3 Joe starts picking Jose apart with big punch combos. Well not really combos but a series of hard thrown unansswered punches. JOse has his nhands down and is tired. Joe is hunting for a KO here. Joe’s got strong push kicks that are taking the last wind out of Jose here. Joe works the body with two big rights and a solid kick. Jose fires a lazy takedown and gets his back taken. Joe works him with punches and knees for the remainder of the round.

Bryan Goldsby – Rush MMA vs Ronnie Rogers – Hit Squad 155lbs

Bryan is using his footwork and speed to keep range but drops for a takedown when Ronnie closed the distance. Bryan’s length might be a problem for Ronnie as we go on. They both drop for a takedown and Ronnie locks up a neck quickly. Bryan shifts and changes his posture to get some relief but after a few moments he looks to tap.

Scott Farhat – Striker Fight Center vs Byron Bloodworth – Iron Clutch Fit/ATT Atl 135lbs

Byron feints a front kick and lands a glancing switch knee. Byron clinches up and they move to the corner. Scott works some inside punches and uppercuts while Byron presses him into the corner looking for an openning to strike. The ref splits em up and we get back to standup. Byron feints a takedown tht Scott bits hard on. Scott lands a short hook on the way out and Byron leaps into him with another switch knee. Byron is landing the more technical strikes and Scott counters with a rush of strikes. They clinch up after some strikes and resume the corner. Scott lands some big body shots as the round ends.

Round 2 Byron lands a leg kick and solid body kick to start the series. Scott answers with a leg kick. Byron backs up and lands that jumping switch knee that knocks Scott out cold.

Wild Bill’s Fight Night 37 | Event Results

Tonight was some of the best MMA action we’ve seen in Atlanta. If you are missing these fights, you are making a mistake. Check out all the action.

Chris Gibbs – Knuckle Up vs Joey Edwards – Slaughter House 185lbs

Chris wants it on the ground immediatly and goes for a body lock. Joey lansd a stiff knee and they battle back and forth. Chris trips Joey to the ground and into half guard. Chris works there but gets swept. Chris tries to stand up and takes a knee to the body. standing, Chris has Joey in a body lock. Joey ends up on top after a scramble and opts to stand. Chris rushes in to clinch and body lock again. Chris is able to take Joey down again at the end of the round but not progress past half guard.

Round 2 Chris rushes in for another body lock. Chris changes levels and Joey locks in a guillotine that he uses to get the fight to the ground. Joey loses the guillotine and he stands up. Chris tackles Joey, Joey throws up the legs for a triangle and then armbar attempt. Chris defends and ends up in side control. Chris has Joey in a crucifix position and targets the far arm for an americana. Joey is able to defend it until time runs out in the round.

Round 3 Chris locks up the body again and lands in half guard. Chris finally mounts after some work in half guard. Finally in mount Chris tries to isolate an arm but Joey keeps moving. The finals seconds see Chris try another americana.

Marquis Murphy – Fusion FItness vs Jeff Randall – Hardcore Gym 155lbs

The fighters trade leg kicks early. Jeff throws a second and gets caught, Marquis gets shaken lose though. Jeff rope-a-dopes a punch, Marquis flurries and Jeff wraps him up to go to the ground. Jeff lands on top and delivers some knees to the body. They get stood up and Jeff throws some stiff combos that shake Marquis. Jeff drops levels but gets caught in a guillotine, Jeff defends and stands. Now on the feet, Marquis looks broken as each exchange has Jeff landing more quickly. (There was an alleged eye-poke earlier in the round that seems to continue to effect Marquis)

Round 2 Marquis lands an overhand right but may be having problems with his vision unable to land anything at range. Jeff lands another takedown and works some body blows in side control. Jeff isolates the far-side arm and tries for a loose armbar that Marquis escapes. Back on the feet Marquis lands a big trip on Jeff that impresses the crowd. Marquis lands powerful combo that has Jeff drop down for another takedown. Chris ends up on top for some more body blows. Marquis turns and gets a leg and they end in that position.

Round 3 Marquis lands some punches and gets Jeff in a standing guillotine in the corner. Marquis works knees and body punches in the corner. They separate and Marquis throws some big looping punches that are landing. They both start brawling and it gets animated in the crowd. Jeff takes a desparate shot but sticks it and lands in Marquis’s half guard. Jeff does some work to the body but it feel’s like Marquis’s round.

Mary is notorious for head-down lots-of-punches fighting. Ashley works her range with leg kicks and push kicks. Mary is taking some punishement early on with jabs. Ashley moves around the ring with ease and tags Mary from range. Mary closes range but Ahely clinches up and negates most of the damage.

Round 2 Ashley throws most of the strikes early. Mary finds an openning and unleashes a barrage of strikes that land clean and Ashley is forced to lock her up. Mary does better about pushing Ashley in the corner and machine guns her punches when she sees daylight. Ashly wears after taking a number of strikes to the head but Mary is a cardio machine. They clinch fight as the second round comes to a close.

Round 3 Mary closes quickly and Ashely takes a handful of unprotected shots. Referee Blake Grice steps in for a count but it is clear Ashley cannot continue.

Gui Cury – Knuckle Up Fitness vs Kris Boyd – HardCore Gym 157lbs

Gui rushes in quickly and tries to body lock Kris. Kris is sprawling out and keping his feet. Gui works some knees to the body and legs. Gui drops for a single leg and Kris exhibitis incredible balance until he’s finally taken down. Gui cartwheels over into side control and looks to mount. Kris catches a leg and Gui is back in half guard. Gui postures up to pass, and they scramble for a moment. Kris ends up on top and Gui throws up the legs for a triangle. Kris picks him up and slams him to the mat as time expires.

Round 2 Kris lands a kick but Gui approaches for a takedon. they get to the groun momentarilly. Kris is able to attempt an omoplata as Gui is passing. They pretzel up pretty good as Gui finds better position. Kris swivels around as best he can to get a more favorable position and Gui puts him in another triangle. Gui locks up a leg so he’s not slammed as before and they fall over. Gui improves his position further and Kris is made to tap.

Chase Thomas – Ascension MMA vs Gerry Tena – Striker Fight Center 147lbs

Chas is atttacking with kicks and Gerry with jabs. Chase misses some spinning round house kicks but lands an uppercut. They let the hands lose and start slugging. Gerry catches Chase with a left hook as he was backing up and drops Chase. Gerry closes and mounts him. Chasse keeps his composure and is able shake him and get back to standing. They trade some kicks now and Chase jumps guard. Gerry is an accomplished grappler and postures up to deliver strikes to the head of a downed Chase. Gerry backs up from an awkward position in the corner and lets Chase stand. Gerry is landing some good strikes and Chase is wilting. They clinch up and Chase opts for knees. Gery lands some good body blows and they separate. This is an equal battl on the feet as they trade strikes to the legs, body and head. Gerry lands a front kick when Chase drops for a takedown. Gerry follows up with some strikes but the bell is rung.

Round 2 Chase goes to body lick and Gerry is able to peel him off and land a big knee as they separate. They continue to trade strikes in the corner but it seems Gerry is taking th e least damage. They separate again and Gery lands another front kick and straight right to the head. Gerry checks a leg kick and fires a left that stings Chase. Chase drops for a takedown, Gerry ends up on bottom for a moment but shifts his hips and attempts an omoplata. Gerry lands some strikes from this shoulder lock position. Chase rolls and throws up the legs for a triangle. Gerry defends the triangle and catches Chase’s back as he’s turning to escape. They shift from back control to mount as Gerry alternates between RNC and GnP. Chase bucks and turns again, Gerry catches him in another omoplata and nearly separates the shoulder before Chase is able to escape and the round ends.

Round 3 They clinch early and Gerry hip tosses Chase to the ground. Gerry starts in north-south, Chase spins to guard, and Gerry is ultimately able to posture up and land more strikes. Gerry passes guard a time or two and Chase moves it right back. Gerry passes one final time and is able to mount. Chase gives up his back but with only one hook in, Gerry is unable to do much here. Gerry sinks in the other ook and works for an RNC. After a minute or two of work here, Chase is able to get back to guard but loses it almost immediately when Gerry mounts again.

Jesse Wable – Grantham MMA vs John Puerta – ATT Atlanta 137lbs

Jesse goes for a body kick, John catchs it and they go to the ground. John drops some elbows from the top. Jesse rolls out, John follows and gets north-south but finally ends in Jesse’s half guard. John looks very comfortable on the ground and grabs an arm for a kimura. Jesse defends some but John is able to get his legs over the head and chest to finish an armbar.

Jose Tezanos – Rodriguez MMA vs Byron Bloodworth – Iron Clutch Fitness/ATT ATL 147lbs

They have a real slow start and Jose pops off two jabs and a straight to close the distance. They clinch up and work against the ropes. Jose bounces Byron off the ropes and body slams him to the mat in Byron’s guard. After some inaction they’re stood up. They circle around each other a bit and brawl in the corner for handful of strikes before clinching up. They’re separated and circle each other tentatively again. They have a lot of respect for each other’s power and seem to attack at the same time but only in short spurts. Byron launches a flying knee strike that misses but rouses the crowd.

Round 2 Byron ducks under a jab and lands a double leg takedown. Byron is on top in half guard. Jose weathers a lot of peppering shots before Byron is able to secure most of an arm triangle and get to side control. Before Byron can get to the correct side to finish, Jose catches a leg and gets him back in half guard. Jose turns to escape and Byron throws on a guillotine. Jose pops his head out and is on top in Byron’s guard.

Round 3 Byron lands on overhand right and inside leg kick. Byron drops for another double leg and nails it. Byron lands in Jose’s half guard and works to pass. Byron shaves Jose’s legs off with his shins and passes to side control. Jose has turned to mostly give his back but manages to hook a leg in an uncomfortable half guard. It proves unsustainable and Byron moves to mount. Byron lands some more peppering shots and a big elbow. Byron rides Jose until time expires.

Christopher Cain – Fitness Edge MMA vs Jerrid Burke – HardCore Gym 155lbs

Chris lands a front kick on Jerrid that knocks Chris back! Jerrid returns a headkick that glances off and Chris drops for a takedown. Chris lands in Jerrid’s guard, passes momentarilly and locks in a guillotine when he sees the opportunity. Jerrid ends up on top and is able to take Chris’s back with both hooks in. Jerrid works for a choke and Chris is defending trying to turn into him. Jerrid tries to stay in an advantageous position but Chris goes from Jerrid’s guard to nearly passing to side control. Chris postures up to move around, Jerrid pops him on the mouth. Chris is awkwardly trying to get top position here but falls over. Jerrid takes advantage and locks in a calf-crusher. Chris taps, seemingly by mistake, but the fight is over.

Joe Heink – Real Fighters/Helio Soneca vs Will Kuhn – X3 Sports 172lbs

Joe is charging in and Will is looking to counter. Will is countering with 2-3-2 and has already formed a cut over Joe’s left eye. Joe closes to clinch but Will is protecting himself. Joe drops to take Will down and gets him there. Will uses a guillotine to hold position but Joe pops out. Joe passes to side control and then to knee on belly. Will turns and is able to get up. They clinch up in the corner again. Will separates himself and fires a couple shots. Will hits Joe with knee as Joe comes in for a shot. Will then drops for a shot from way far out and the end up clinching some more. The separate and Joe goes to stalking Will around the ring. Will gets some shots off but nothing substantial. The round ends when Joe sprawls out of one of Will’s takedowns.

Round 2 Will lands an elbow as Joe rushes in. They go to a see-saw battle of approach and retreat. Will has added a step-through knee to his arsenal that he uses when Joe closes. They clinch up and Joe lands some body knees, although one checks the cup. Will lands some 1-2s and Joe lands some stiff leg kicks. Joe closes again and is able to single leg drag to the ground. Joe works a little from the top. WIll shrugs him off and they get back to standing. Will loads up some big rights and penetrates the guard some. Joe rushes in and gets a body knee for his trouble. Joe clinches up again and they stand in the corner. They get separated and Will lands some leg kicks and a flurry to close the round.

Round 3 Will is landing some punches while Joe works on Will’s lead leg. Will uses the rebound from the ropes to throw knees and straight rights. Joe controls the standup with his clinching and is able to trip Will to the ground again. Joe passes to side control and works a far-side armbar. Will defends it and when he turns to escape, Joe takes his back. Joe works for a choke but Will is able to turn and get on top in guard. Joe is able to get back to standing and get one final takedown before the end of the fight.

Ronnie Rogers – Hit Squad vs Diego Saraiva – Saraiva MMA 150lbs

Diego is ok with putting some pucnhes out there first. Ronnie fires back some fast straights and hooks. Ronnie clinches up but they get separated. Ronnie lands a couple good leg kicks and one solid body kick. Ronnie is beating Diego to the strikes now and they clinch up in the corner. Ronnie knees the inner thighs while Diego tries to circle out. Diego’s leg kicks are being met with quick counters by Ronnie. One such counter drops Diego and Ronnie rushes to meet him. Ronnie punches a few times from top position and relents. Diego shoots for a takedown that Ronnie sprawls out of and they are back to standing. Diego’s strikes are being met with quick counters and he’s backing off a little bit. Ronnie is throwing his punches with bad intentions. Diego is able to land a couple good leg kicks but the damage on Diego’s face is apparent as they retire to their corners. Diego has a rabbit under the right eye and cots around the left. The doctor OKs it and we have another round.

Round 2 They clinch up early, Diego trying to drag the fight to the ground. Ronnie backs him off and throws a series of hooks whenever Diego gets in range. Ronie as stuffed two takedowns and now comes at Diego to clinch. Diego turns him into the corner and throws some knees and body punches. Diego lands a leg kick and drops for a takedown. Ronnie jumps guard when he thinks he has a guillotine. Diego is on top for the first time in the fight. Diego passes but Ronnie scrambles and Ronnie lets him stand. They brawl it out some and Ronnie lands a flush knee in a clinch. Ronnie follows Diego to the ground but lets him up shortly after. Ronnie feints gassing some and throws a strong liver shot. Diego looks OK and they size each other up. Both fighters have expended some tremendous energy.

Round 3 Ronnie works Diego into a corner but allows Diego to drag him down with a single leg takedown. Ronnie is able to stand and lets Diego up. Diego does a better job of picking his strikes now with some leg kicks and jabs. His takedowns continue to fail, however. Ronnis is not countering the leg kicks as quickly and they appear to take their toll. Ronnie is able to land an uppercut and right hook, Diego asks for more. Diego lands 3 more leg kicks. Ronnie is landing, but Diego just won’t go down. They’re in a fight now and the varying attacks from both fighters are weakening the other’s defenses. Both fighters are doing a great job at changing levels and varying their strikes. In the final seconds Ronnie offers the chin and takes 2 or 3 solid ones from Diego and returns some big shots that miss as the fight ends.

The #1 and #3 ranked lightweights meet in the main event of the Friday, March 11 Wild Bill’s Fight night for the vacant Georgia Fighters Championship (GFC).
Diego Saraiva, ranked #1 with a 19-10 record returns to the main event for the second time in a row. His last fight was a second round submission victory over Joe Elmore. The fight, although it was in January, is already being mentioned as a Fight of the Year candidate. Saraiva has headlined three Wild Bill’s Fight Nights in the last year with each fight being a win for him and candidates for Fight of the Year. Saraiva has also fought three times for the UFC and once for Bellator.

Marius Cujba should prove to be Saraiva’s toughest test. The product is X3 Sports’ top fighter with a perfect record of 10-0. This will be Cujba’s first fight at Wild Bill’s.
The undercard proves to also provide fireworks with at least 5 pro fights, three title fights on the card and a female fight!

Round 1
The fight is underway as Jones jumps on top of Hurst to setup a guillotine and Hurst slams them both to the ground. Once on the ground however, Hurst is able to sweep Jones and end up with a high mount where he works for an arm triangle. Jones defends but is unable to stop Hurst from pulling off a great armbar from this position for the finish.

170lbs Chris Barnheizer vs. Ty Troutman

Round 1
The fight is underway as Barnheizer shoots in for a shot and finishes it with a leg sweep. Once on the ground he works from side control and troutmans guard. From here Barnheizer is able to mount Troutman and take his back, ending the fight by RNC as Troutman taps out.

150lbs Luke Sanders vs, Anthony Rettic

Round 1
The round begins with a feeling out process which is followed by Rettic delivering some solid punches as Sanders looks for a shot which isnt there. The standup continues with Sanders throwing some leg kicks until he is able to finish a big double leg takedown. Sanders delivers some ground and pound shots before time on the round runs out.

Round 2
Rettic is clearly looking for the KO as Sanders wants to take him down. Sanders is obliterating Rettic with inside leg legs and most of the round plays out this way with Sanders as the aggressor in Round 2 for sure.

Round 3
Sanders backs Rettic up against the cage and is able to use it to hip toss him into a takedown. Sanders is clearly comfortable on the ground and delivers some strikes to the head as Rettic is looking for an opportunity to sweep. The round comes to an end as Sanders controls Rettic on the ground until the closing bell.

Sanders wins by unanimous decision

170lbs Gregory Taylor vs. Christopher Reece

Round 1
The round begins with both fighters looking for bombs on the feet. Taylor is able to get Reece to the ground with the help of the cage but Reece ends up on top and throws some strikes from the top. The two fighters look to stand while against the cage when Reece surprises everyone by sinking in a super slick armbar from the back door bringing the fight to an end.

205lbs Dante Lawson vs. Sonny Cline

Round 1
Cline comes out swinging wildly as Lawson is looking to beat him with precision and weather the early flurry of wild punches. Lawson works Cline up against the cage but then lands a big knee to the weener. Once the fight is restarted Lawson delivers some shots and is able to shoot for a takedown which Cline stifles with a guillotine attempt. They move to the ground where Lawson is able to mount Cline and deliver some strikes from the top as Cline covers up and the referee stops the fight.

170lbs Dave Cook vs. Ronnie Mello

Round 1
Ronnie Mello starts the fight by running right at Cook and Cook evades as Mello throws wild shots. Cook is able to slow down the fast striking Mello and attempt to sink in a gullotine from the front as both fighters drop to their knees. They go back to their feet where Mello is throwing everything at Cook including spinning back fists and the kitchen sink. They go to the ground where Mello is looking for a schoolyard choke as Cook escapes and the round ends.

Round 2
Mello is able to take Cook down and again work from side control as Cook slips out the back door and puts Mello in his guard. From here Mello postures up to go for a guillotine which Cook defends. Cook then postures up and starts to deliver some shots from the top as Mello pulls him back down into his guard and holds on for the remainder of the round.

Round 3
Cook works a Thai Clinch as Mello tries to get away after taking some big knees. Cook is able to finish a takedown as Mello holds him in his guard. Cook works in the guard as both fighters wrestle to a stalemate. Once back on the feet, both fighters are throwing combos as Mello grabs and then hip tosses Cook ending the round in a big way and bringing the fight to a close.

Mello wins by unanimous decision

155lbs Chris Camacho vs. Angelo Gisante

Round 1
The fight begins and Gisante is working a 1-2 combo which backs Camacho into the cage. Camacho meets Gisante’s offering with a flurry of punches that look like something out of street fighter 2. Seriously, this kid punches ridiculously fast. They continue to trade until Camacho delivers a big leg kick to the guts which Gisante doesnt like at all. Gisante takes Camacho down and works for an arm triangle from side control. Camacho defends and sweeps Gisante to land in halfguard as Gisante reaches for a guillotine. They both move back to the feet and trade punches until the round is called.

Round 2
Round 2 begins and it doesn’t take long before Camacho staggers Gisante with a huge right cross and follows him to the ground for the finishing blow. The ref jumps in and does a great job to prevent any more damage to Gisante who is on the ground and clearly rocked.

185lbs Charles Mc Torry vs. Caleb Flanagan

Round 1
The fighters are looking for something on the feet as they trade combos with Torry looking to finish in spectacular fashion. He is throwing absolute haymakers and event looks for some spinning heel kicks. Flanagan comes in with a flurry of punches as Torry clips him with a left hand on his way in. McTorry is getting the best of the standup for sure and lands a big left that lands on Flanagan clean. The punch sends him to the ground where he puts his hands up but the referee has already called a stop to the fight.

McTorry wins by KO in R1

170lbs Kenny Degenhart vs. Josh Phelps

Round 1
The fight begins and Degenhart throws a couple punches which causes him to lose his balance. Phelps follows him to the cage but Degenhart recovers as they wrestle for position. Degenhart is able to take down Phelps with the help from the cage and moves to his back. Degenhart continues to work hard for an RNC which Phelps fights off the first time, but it isn’t long before he gives in to the second attempt.

160lbs JC Cuffee vs. James Foster

Round 1
The fight starts and Foster shoots in for a takedown. This proves to be a terrible idea as Cuffee counters his takedown attempt with a monster guillotine ending the fight at 7 seconds of round one.

225lbs Ashley Gooch vs. Elias Donker

The fight begins and Gooch is able to wrestle Donker to the ground where he is controlling him from every position. As the round continues Donker is able to eventually to get back to his feet and pin Gooch against the cage. From this position Gooch is able to work his way out and bust the guts with a knee which Donker responds to with a takedown attempt. Gooch sprawls and fights off Donker to bring the round to a close.

Round 2
Round 2 begins. Donker is obviously tired and immediately begins the fight by going for a takedown which gooch sprawls out of, ending in a great position to control a very tired Donker. Gooch transitions to his back and looks to sink in the RNC which Donker is defending by turtling up. Donker flattens himself out as Gooch looks for a way to finish from the back. Both fighters are definitely tired and looking for this fight to end one way or another.

Round 3
The crowd is behind Gooch and this fight continues to be played out on the ground as Donker turtles again while Gooch looks for a way to finish him. Gooch moves from his back to a crucifix position which Donker is able to escape from only to take some more punishment from Gooch who is glued to his back. They stand up for a brief time before Gooch slams him down once again and controls him on the ground until the fight ends.

Gooch wins by unanimous decision

135lbs Spencer Serivner vs. Steve Chico

The fight begins and Chico shoots in for a double leg which Serivner meets with a guillotine attempt. Both fights go back to the feet with Chico throwing some big leg kicks, Serivner rushes him against the cage and continues to control him with a Thai clinch. Chico wrestles him off the cage and then puts Serivner on his back where he delivers some shots from the top that Serivner eats before he sweeps Chico, landing in side control. Chico forces Serivner to half guard as Serivner continues to try to pass to mount. Chico turtles as Serivner holds on to a guillotine from the top as the round ends.

Round 2
Both fighters are content on clinching and breaking to throw combos trying to catch the other napping. Serivner is able to control Chico as he pins him up against the cage.
They go to the ground where Serivner takes Chicos back and works for an RNC which Chico defends as he sweeps Serivner again. They come back to the feet and end up against the cage when Serivner drops to his knees for a shot as Chico drills him with an illegal knee sending him to the canvas. Serivner is super rocked and unable to continues thus declaring him the winner by disqualificiation.

125lbs Justin Pennington vs. Cory Alexander

Penning starts the round by shooting in on Alexander who sprawls as they both end on on the ground. Once there, Pennington is looking for something from the top as Alexander looks to finish with a submission of his own from his back. They go back to the feet but Alexander again takes down Pennington pins him against the cage as he postures up for strikes from the top. Pennington is able to sweep but Alexander is again comfortable on his back as he works for an armbar and triangle as the round comes to a close.

Round 2
The fight continues as the fighters both go to the ground once again and are looking for a finish from this position. Its a great fight on the ground and awesome display of jiu jitsu and wrestling as both fighters look for a way to end the fight by submission . Alexander ends up in Pennington guard and postures up to deliver some shots but Pennington is doing a great job of defending as Pennington sweeps and again ends in Alexanders guard but he backs up to try and throw some shots of his own. The round comes to an end as two super technical fighters are putting in a great display of ground work.

Round 3
The round begins and Alexander shoots in for a takedown which he completes as both fighters go to the ground , from here Alexander is able to works his way to Pennington’s back where he finishes the fight by RNC.

135lbs Dustin Ortiz vs. Forrest Beard

Both fighters start on the feet and exchange shots but it isn’t long before Ortiz, who is clearly the aggressor takes Beard to the ground. Once they are on the mat, Ortiz makes it look as easy he transitions to Beards back looking for the RNC. As beard defends the RNC, Ortiz postures up and delivers strikes from the top until the referee ends the bout.

Rashad throws a leg kick to start and Jonothan gives him space. Rashad approaches for some close punches that Jonothan is able to weather. Jonothan returns with a combo of his own and downs Rashad. Rashad rolls back to get back to standing but Jonothan is quick and attaches a guillotine quickly. Rashad works to escape but is unable and taps.

Robert starts with a headkick that misses and Donta rushes immediately pressing Robert to the cage. Donta gets the takedown and works to mount. Robert sweeps him and works for position. Donta is able to get back on top but nearly gets caught in a triangle. Donta escapes and passes guard. Robert is able to get back to guard and subsequently lock in an armbar.

Lyle exhibits some crisp boxing to start and lands a couple good punches on Luis’s face. Lyle goes for the takedown but Luis maintains his composure and stays standing. Lyle backs up and throws a few more combos that land well. Luis has a tough chin and is still lucid. Luis backs Lyle off and lands a loud-slapping head kick. Luis follows up with a combo and Lyle drops for a takedown. Lyle gets into Luis’s half-guard and they work for position. Luis is able to push Lyle off and as they get to standing Lyle lands a punch on his downed opponent.

Round 2 Lyle lands a couple punches early on and takes Luis down. Lyle is able to get the mount and work strikes to the body in this Amateur bout. Lyle postures for an armbar and drops to the side to secure it. Luis stacks him and gets the arm out. Luis stands and kicks the lower body of his downed opponent. Both fighters stand and stalemate till the end of the round.

Round 3 Luis attacks with a superman punch and follow up left. Lyle is stunned but returns the attack and drops for the takedown. Lyle dominates the ground game and Luis is just looking to survive. Luis rolls out the backdoor to stand and Lyle jumps on his back. They come to the ground and Lyle maintains this back with both hooks in until the round expires.

Elias and Jake are both 15 and their lack of discipline shows a bit when they come out to stand and wang. Elias is throwing some straight t punch combos and clinching for a knee while Jake throws a straight right to load up a heavy left hook. They trade wild punches and knees for the remainder of the round.

Round 2 Elias find an early advantage and gets Jake against the cage. Jake retaliates with WILD looping haymakers. Jake attacks with a series of his favorite left hook and just plain punches himself out. Elias is constantly on the attack and wearing on Jake further.

Round 3 Jake comes on the attack and wears Elias down some. Elias survives the onslaught and comes back at Jake with more straight punches and knees to the body. Jake is looking for a homerun with that left hook but is not finding home. Elias finds Jake in deep water towards the end of round 3 and finishes with big shots. Elias is unable to finish him before the round ends.

Darrell looks to get the action to the ground early. He’s got a wrestling build and uses it to get Clay to the ground. Clay managed to scramble out and nearly get to standing but Darrell kept his cool and got back to a dominant position. Clay rolled out for a leg and attempts a knee bar. Darrell defends and works punches to the body until time runs out.

Clay attempts a head kick at the beginning of the second round that Darrell catches and gets them both back to the ground. They scramble and Darrell takes Clay’s back and works for a RNC. Clay keeps his composure and sweeps to top position in half guard. Darrell gets to standing and back over Clay in half guard. Darrell goes through a half dozen dominant positions before getting Clay into a North South position and choke.

Eric maintains distance with push kicks and kicks to the body. Russell is looking for an opening but Eric is an accomplished muay thai fighter. Russell manages to get in close and get a body lock. They are separated after an illegal low blow by Russell. Toe to Toe Eric continues to command the striking game. Eric keeps Russell at bay for the remainder of the round.

Round 2 Russell lets his hands go a little bit and got Eric on the defensive. Eric reset and threw some push kicks to keep Russell back. Russell stuns Eric with a big shot and goes on the attack stalking him all over the cage. Eric lands a wile looping punch and likewise stuns Russell. They close and clinch to trade some blows to the body. Russell manages a body lock and drags Eric to the ground. Russell works to mount and locks in a triangle just as time expires for the round.

Round 3 Russell has some new found confidence and is pressing the action. Eric returns with body kicks. Russell closes and lands a solid left hook to stagger Eric. Eric retreats but Russell closes and lands another that drops Eric to the ground. Eric is given an 8 count and they get back to the fight. Russell lands some more strong shots that bloody his opponent. Russell gets Eric’s back and puts him in a RNC that ends the fight just before the ring of the final bell.

Tutt is the aggressor here and throws a number of strikes to start. Scott goes for a takedown but is unable to complete. From standing Tutt lands a body knee that Scott looks hurt by. Scott goes for another takedown that Tutt sprawls out of. Tutt is able to put Scott in a shoulder lock and submit him in the first round.

John lands a solid leg kick to start and Tyler shoots for a takedown. John manhandles him to the ground and stands back up. John lands some strikes while standing and Tyler shoots again. John sprawls out of the takedown and gets to standing again. This process repeats until Tyler is able to put John in his guard. John works to pass guard while Tyler works for a kimura to submit or pass. The ref stands them after some time in this position.

This round they trade some leg kicks to start. John finds some success with a flurry and Tyler clinches. John drops him with an illegal slam and they reset. Tyler gets them to the ground again and John is nearly able to pull off a hammer lock before Tyler rolls for a leg lock. John defends the leg lock and improves his position to take Tyler’s back. John comes over the top and locks in an armbar just before the bell rings.

3rd round John and Tyler meet in the middle and they find the ground quickly. John wins the scramble and gets into top position. John worked for an armbar that missed and Tyler was able to take his back. John explodes and gets back into Tyler’s guard. The fight ends soon after.

They open with a pair of leg kicks and clinch quickly. Triston works t body and Tory is able to lock in a guillotine. Triston defends but Tory trips him sand they drop the way 600 pounds of man should HARD. Tory maintains half guard over Triston and works for submissions or better position. The round ends in this position.

Tory scores more leg kicks at the beginning of the 2nd round and lands a spinning back kick to Triston’s mid section. Tory shoots for a single and gets top position. Triston moves to escape and Tory takes this back. Triston is able to stand and they trade more strikes. Tory is visibly gassing and makes a desperate shot Triston sprawls out of. Triston stands again and is on the attack. Tory manages a trip and lands on Triston’s back. Tory locks in a RNC just as the bell rings.

Tory works more low kicks and follows up with clinchwork. Triston manages to land a headkick to a tired Tory and they clinch again. After some inactivity the ref separates them and they get back to fighting. Triston lands a solid right hand and downs Tory. The ref steps in and calls the fight.

Josh slow plays the start of the fight and lulls Greg nearly to sleep. Josh lashes out with quick strikes but Greg has done nothing. Josh unleashes another attack and Greg meets him. They clinch and Josh hits him with some knees. Greg manages to shrug him off and they go back to their dance. Greg’s confidence is building and lands a right that backs Josh off. Josh retaliates with a right hook that floors Greg and stops the fight.

The fighters tentatively feel each other out for the first minute or so. Dan finds paydirt with a flurry. Jerico closes to clinch and Dan drops him for the takedown. Dan works to half guard and eventually gets his leg up over Jerico’s shoulder. Dan rains down blows to the head until finally moving for an armbar just as time expires.

Jerico lands a big right early in the 2nd that only infuriates Dan. Dan unleashes a flurry and backs up. Dan approaches for another flurry and Jerico returns with a combination. Dan clinches and gets the takedown getting him into mount. Dan resumes the position he was in at the end of the first. Dan misses the armbar but is able to lock Jerico in a triangle. Jerico taps just before the end of the round treating us to an elusive submission finish before the bell.

Joe is circling with his hands pretty low. He’s a quick guy so it doesn’t seem to hurt him right now. Steel shoots for a single and Joe defends it well. They work against the fence for a bit and Steel is unable to complete the takedown. Joe drops for a body shot that lands clean and he closes. Joe gets the takdeown and works in side control. Steel scrambles out and gets a single of his own. Steel completes the takedown and works for a guillotine early. Joe defends but gives up position just before the bell rings.

2nd round Joe looses some strikes and Steel goes for another takedown. Joe stays on top and eventually stands. Joe then goes for his own takedown and works from half guard. Joe is unable to put anything together and they stand. They close and go to the ground again. Joe is able to mount Steel just before the round ends.

Joe commands the stand-up here and soon closes to clinch; Joe takes them down and works for a submission. Steel gets a favorable position and nearly seals an armbar. Joe manages to stand and dominate the rest of the fight.
